In 2007 DTEK joined theUN Global Compact, thus adhering to ten principles regarding human rights, labour relations, environmental protection and combating corruption. In 2009 DTEK also headed the working group on human rights of the Compact’s Ukrainian network.
In 2009 DTEK’s submission about the progress achieved in implementing the Global Compact received the status of “notable” (“outstanding, meriting particular attention”). Such recognition was awarded to the reports of 274 companies from over 5,000 worldwide. DTEK was the only Ukrainian company to receive recognition from the Secretariat of the Global Compact.
In December 2009 DTEK won in the “Development of Local Communities” nomination of the First All-Ukrainian Corporate Social Responsibility Business Case Contest. The competition was organised by the Centre for the Development of Corporate Social Responsibility and Ernst & Young, VOLYA, Austrian Airlines and the Asters law firm.
