DTEK history

DTEK established based on Pavlogradugol, Komsomolets Donbassa Mine, Skhidenergo, Service-Invest.

Energougol ENE, Pavlogradska and Kurakhivska coal processing plants became part of DTEK.

• DTEK joined the UN Global Compact.
• DTEK received its first international credit ratings from Moody’s and Fitch Ratings.
• The Dobropilska SPP, Oktyabrska SPP and Mospino coal processing plants became part of DTEK.
• For the first time in its history, the annual output of Komsomolets Donbassa mine totalled 3.4 mln tonnes of coal. It was ranked second in Ukraine in terms of coal production and labour productivity.
• Launch of a large-scale programme to upgrade the Skhidenergo generating capacity.

• The debut issuance of internal loan bonds in the amount of UAH 500 mln.
• Launch of a comprehensive programme to upgrade mining equipment using high-performance hardware, and with the introduction of anchoring and frame-anchorage technology at the company's mines.
• Wind Power was established to implement projects in wind power.

• DTEK won the right to export electricity to Hungary, Romania and Slovakia at the first auction in Ukraine for access to international grids.
• Energougol ENE launched a new service to provide industrial electricity consumers with remote access to their personal accounts.
• The company established Academy DTEK, the corporate university.

• The debut issuance of Eurobonds in the amount of USD 500 million, to raise funds for the modernisation of production and expansion of the company's business.
• DTEK started electricity exporting to Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Belarus.
• DTEK became a member of the European industry associations EURACOAL and EURELECTRIC

• DTEK became the largest private shareholder of Kyivenergo PJSC, with 71.8% ownership.
• The State Property Fund and DTEK signed lease and concession agreements for the state enterprises Dobropilliaugol, Rovenkianthracite and Sverdlovanthracite.
• DTEK Oil&Gas was established to develop projects in the oil and gas industry.
• DTEK attracted a record amount of financing from banks - USD 1.4 bn - to implement the company's strategic development plans.
• DTEK became the first Ukrainian company in CSR Europe. It is the largest European business association, whose members are actively working to develop corporate social responsibility.

• The implementation of the first five-year stage of DTEK's long-term development strategy was completed. Over 2008-2012 more than USD 2.5 bn was invested in production.
• Launch of the first stage turbines of the Botievo wind farm, DTEK's first investment project in renewable energy.
• The first acquisition of coal assets outside Ukraine: Mine Office Obukhovskaya JSC, Donskoy Anthracite JSC and Sulinanthracite LLC, from the Russian Federation, became part of DTEK.

• DTEK Pavlogradugol produced a record 18 mln tonnes of coal.
• Second placement of Eurobonds, of USD 750 mln.
• Invested USD 1.3 bn in the renovation of generating units and upgrading mining equipment.
• DTEK entered Deloitte’s TOP-10 of the most dynamically developing companies in Central and Eastern Europe.
• DTEK started gas supplies from Europe and acquired a stake in Naftogazvydobuvannya, the largest private gas producer in Ukraine.

• DTEK power engineers restored power supply to 1.4 million people in 600 settlements, which were left without electricity due to the hostilities in the east of Ukraine.
• The Botievo Wind Farm reached its design capacity, becoming the largest wind farm in Ukraine and one of the top five wind parks in Central and Eastern Europe.
• DTEK completed the governance reform initiated in 2011. A DTEK management company and three operating companies were established: DTEK Energy for assets in coal mining, thermal power generation, and electricity distribution, DTEK Renewables for alternative energy, and DTEK Oil&Gas for gas production.

• Naftogazvydobuvannya commissioned the deepest gas well in Eastern Europe (6 750 m) and reached a record gas output in the entire history of the company and the private gas production in Ukraine.
• DTEK Energy restructured the USD 200 mln Eurobonds originally maturing in April 2015.
• "Energy Efficient Schools" project recieved  "The Best Social Projects of Ukraine" at the Grand Prix of the All-Ukrainian competition.
• 140 projects in 15 communities were implemented with the "Your Hometown Begins With You" framework of mi-ni-grants competition.

• Naftogazvydobuvannya produced a record 1.6 bcm of natural gas.
• An agreement on the long-term restructuring of the company’s loan portfolio was reached with the Eurobond holders and bank lenders.
• Miners at the Geroiv Kosmosu mine produced an historic three million tonnes of coal.
• For the first time in the world, Pavlohradcoal miners went through a unique geological fault with a 300-meter drop - the Bogdanivskiy fault.

• DTEK withdrew from its management the enterprises located in the anti-terrorist operation area.
• An agreement was concluded with financial institutions on the long-term restructuring of DTEK Energy’s loans.
• Academy DTEK, INSEAD business school (France) and IE Business School (Spain) signed a memorandum on the development and implementation of joint training programmes in Ukraine.
• DTEK implemented the first solar energy project, initiating the formation of a long-term vision of development in this segment.
• A survey by consultants EY ranks DTEK as one of the 10 most attractive places to work in Ukraine
• DTEK signed a partnership agreement with the Climate Bonds Initiative.
• The General Meeting of Shareholders of Kyivenergo PJSC made a decision to reorganise the business by establishing two companies.
• DTEK Energy acquired Corum Druzhkivka Machine Building Plant LLC, Mining Machines Engineering and Technical Centre LLC and 61.2% of the shares in Svit Shakhtaria PJSC.
• The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine approved 12 standards of vocational education developed by DTEK.

• DTEK established DTEK Grids, an operating holding company.
• DTEK Renewables signed a deal with General Electric for the construction of two stages of the Prymorska Wind Power Plant (200 MW).
• DTEK Renewables begins construction of Nikopol Solar Power Plant (200 MW) in partnership with the Chinese company CMEC.
• DTEK Renewables begins construction of Orlivka Wind Power Plant in partnership with the Dutch company Vestas.
• DTEK launches the innovation management functionality.

• For the first time in the history of Ukrainian business, DTEK placed specialised securities for renewable energy. EU 325 million was raised exclusively for DTEK Renewables’ future projects. 
• DTEK unbundled its electricity distribution and supply services as part of the reform of the Ukrainian electricity market. D.Solutions, an operating holding, was established and tasked with developing the business for the supply of electricity, gas and energy efficient solutions. 
• D.Solutions was one of the first in the electricity market to create a retail brand, YASNO, for the development of the sale of energy products.
• DTEK established D.Trading, which is responsible for the development of the wholesale trade in energy resources in both Ukraine and external energy markets, and work with large clients.
• DTEK Renewables began the construction of Ukraine’s largest solar power plant, Pokrovska SPP.
• DTEK acquired majority shareholdings in Odesaoblenergo and Kyivoblenergo.
• DTEK Oil&Gas won public auctions for the development of oil and gas fields. The company acquired licences to develop Svitankovo-Logivska and Zinkivska oil and gas fields.
• Academy DTEK is recognised as the best business school in the world in the Corporate Responsibility category at the Global CCU Awards.
• The company finishes construction of the Orlivska and Prymorska Wind Power Plants, the Nikopolska and Pokrovska Solar Power Plants, bringing DTEK’s the renewable energy portfolio to 1 GW.
• DTEK Grids commissioned the Naddniprianska substation, one of the most advanced power facilities in Ukraine.
• DTEK installed twelve fast charging stations for electric vehicles.

• DTEK joined the World Economic Forum’s new global platform for the fight against coronavirus COVID-19. Employees were transferred to a special operating mode to protect their health.
• DTEK Renewables won the Green Bond Pioneer Award from the Climate Bond Initiative for the debut issue of its green bonds.
• DTEK became the first Ukrainian company to join the Hydrogen Europe Association, which unites European hydrogen technology leaders.
• DTEK became the first company in Ukraine to start building an industrial energy storage system.

• DTEK Oil&Gas implemented an integrated system of digital field twins.
• DTEK officially launched Ukraine’s first industrial energy storage system.
• DTEK launched construction of Tyligulska wind power plant with initial capacity of 126 MW.
• Academy DTEK and the UN Global Compact Network in Ukraine signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.

• DTEK joined the establishment of the American University in Kyiv.
• On February 24, 2022, DTEK started operating during the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine.
• DTEK organised evacuation of more than 2,000 employees and their families from combat zones.
• DTEK supplied UAH 250 million worth of electricity to the military and hospitals free of charge.
• DTEK allocated UAH 800 million for humanitarian purposes and to support the army.
• On 18 May, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids specialists brought 100% of the lights back in the Kyiv region freed from the aggressors on 2 April 2022. Energy workers did their best to make sure that the work is completed within 45 days rather than 60 as announced earlier.
• DTEK invested UAH 300 million into restoration of grids in Kyiv region.
• DTEK invested in Ukrainian gas production during the war. Companies that are part of the DTEK Oil&Gas portfolio acquired the right to develop two gas fields in Poltava region for UAH 1.3 billion at an open auction.
• In September-December 2022, DTEK Energy's energy facilities were subjected to 22 russian terrorist attacks.

• Tryfonivska SPP, the first liberated renewables facilities, resumed electricity generation after de-occupation.
• DTEK engaged KPMG to outline controls tracking foreign assistance to war-shattered energy sector.
• DTEK Renewables started pre-design works for the Poltavska Wind Power Plant (WPP), in the Hlobyne town community in the Poltava region.
• DTEK won Hague case against russia over seized Crimean assets.
• DTEK opened wind farm in Ukraine amid war to build back greener after russian attacks.
• On December 4, DTEK Group and Vestas signed a Memorandum of Understanding to complete the construction of the largest wind farm in Eastern Europe, a project supported by the European Commission and the governments of Ukraine and Denmark. The installed capacity of the Tyligulska Wind Power Plant will be 500 megawatts, with a total investment in excess of 650 million euros.

• DTEK signaled European ambitions as it brought online first energy projects outside Ukraine. The two Romanian projects – one wind (Ruginoasa) and one solar (Glodeni) – were the first in an EU portfolio that will span Italy, Poland, Romania and Croatia.
• DTEK Renewables prepared a draft detailed territory plan for Poltavska WPP.
